Useful English Word or Phrase to Boost Your English: Jammy
What does it mean?
In British slang, if you’re jammy, you’re incredibly lucky, often in a way that seems undeserved or surprising. "You jammy sod!" is a common (and usually friendly) way to express envy at someone's good fortune. It’s a very colorful and uniquely British term that adds a lot of personality to your spoken English.
Is it positive or negative?
Positive (but usually said with a bit of envy).
When do you use it?
Used when someone wins something, avoids trouble, or gets exactly what they want by pure luck.
Examples
Example 1: You jammy git! I can’t believe you won that holiday on your first try!
Example 2: That was a very jammy goal in the final minute, but they all count.
